      <image:title>About Julia</image:title>
<image:caption>My Journey Towards Counselling I always knew that I wanted to work with people, but I was never quite sure what it would look like. My undergraduate studies began with an education route, focusing on biology. After having taken my first psychology class, however, I quickly became aware that the "biology" I was fascinated by was not dissecting frogs, but rather getting to explore human experiences of the heart, mind, body, and soul. What really drew me in was psychology's power to create opportunities for change and experiencing life in a different way. I experienced this first hand in that first semester psychology class. My own family had been struggling with different mental health issues, and I witnessed how a bit of awareness and knowledge of real human experiences allowed room for growth and change. After graduating with a degree in psychology, however, I still really didn't know what I was going to do with this knowledge, this fascination of human experience. At the time, counselling seemed scary and vulnerable, and it was not until I experienced my own journey of loss, grief, and vulnerability that I was able to let the knowledge of human experience to sink from my head to my heart and open my eyes to the possibility of walking alongside others in their pain and struggles. From there, I went on to take my masters in marriage and family therapy and fell absolutely in love with weaving in knowledge with practical and experiential techniques of being with others. I count it a great honour to walk a part of someone's journey with them, and I look forward to connecting if you should choose to journey with me.</image:caption>

      <image:title>About Julia - My Modalities of Practice.</image:title>
<image:caption>In working together with my client, I will aim to create transformational experiences that are based in well known and researched theories. Although I have had training in a lot of different theories, my practice primarily is based in attachment, experiential, trauma-informed, and systems-based theories. The theories that heavily inform my practice are: Satir Transformational Systemic Therapy Emotionally Focused Family Therapy Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy Neufeld Theory Internal Family Systems Daniel Seigel’s work and Brain-based techniques Somatic Respiratory Integration Play-based theories and Sandtray therapy body-centered, strength and resourced based therapy EMDR If you should have any questions about these theories and modalities and how I use them in therapy, please feel free to send me a message.</image:caption>

      <image:title>Freedom to Fit</image:title>
<image:caption>When I think back to when I was a little girl, I remember the pressures of trying to fit in. I would worry myself with how I could impress others and be more like them. It’s a struggle many of us go through. Every day we maneuver through the ins and outs of finding what “fits” for us. I’ve been on a journey of giving myself the freedom to be just me; and through this journey, I have definitely grown in knowing who I am. Getting to know who you are as a person is a large part of therapy. And that requires space for you to be 100% you. But going to see a complete stranger and being a 100% you can be a bit intimidating. Clients often hold a fear about “fitting” with their therapist. Having been a client, myself, I remember wondering, “What if the therapist doesn’t get me?” or “What if we don’t work well together?”.</image:caption>
